Last month, Savaria Experts-Conseils carried out work for an industry to clean a settling tank for the primary treatment of contaminated water. After 20 years of operation, we carried out a complete cleaning of the basin by suction. The condition of the geomembrane was deficient in some places, minor repairs had to be made.
This treatment tank was designed by our firm to allow the accumulation of settling matter and their anaerobic decomposition, as well as the surface aeration of simple organic compounds. The treatment of contaminated water is carried out with a combination of anaerobic, aerobic and facultative microorganisms.
The system put in place has the function of lowering the content of suspended solids as well as the concentrations of iron and other simple organic compounds. The concentrations measured at the outlet of the basin are monitored and meet the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change (MELCC) issued under ministerial authorization.
